A Black and White Wedding

The title is in no way a jibe at the colours of the people I photographed, which incidentally were more brown (like me) than black.

Congratulations to Niro and Tash, and thank you for inviting me to shoot the wedding. I must say it was a challenge as I only had my ultimate basic kit: 40d + 24-70 L + 580ex2

Well I Wish I Never Met You That Day

Yeah I remember you like a verse
That I didn’t want to learn
I just looked into your eyes
And I knew ya.

First Love – Emmy the Great

So. I’ve finally found my stamp pad. After a long time of looking for it. Found it in an arts and crafts store, which is no easy feat to get to, especially if one does not have a car (which I do not). There were so many hardcore artsy fartsy stuff there, and the stamp pads alone had a couple of shelves for them. Anyway, I got my jet-black 14.99$ stamp pad (WTF that’s like rm45) and I’m going to get on to using it soon, after I finish some unfinished work.

The other day Ahkeam brought a Nintendo Wii back to our flat, so now we have that and an Xbox360. We just need a PS3 to be complete, hey. Hahaha. The Wii is connected to the normal tv, the Xbox to the HD one. I suppose that’s so that we don’t fight over who gets to play when and on which tv.

Oh, and I managed 100% on another Hard song, Eye of the Tiger. Then I attempted Expert for Everlong, and I managed to get 95%. It’s not that bad, but I keep fucking up the pre-chorus. Bah!

Aside from that, I think I’m going to buy another external HD, just so that I can use it to take some Windows files. I’ve looked at something similar to mine (which is the WD Passport for Mac), and I’ve found that WD now changeed the line of their external HDs to not include firewire, unless you get the really high end 200usd ones. Meh. So I’ll be stuck with USB2, but at least the new passport looks sleek. Hopefully I’ll get one tomorrow, if I do go out.

Elephants on Acid

You know the world is going bonkers when you can’t find a stamp pad in the local bookstore, or anywhere within a 5 km radius of where you live. When asked about it, a person who has been here for longer than it takes for a turtle to mate says that “This is Australia mate. They don’t use rubber stamps. Bukan macam Malaysia, sini takde Popular Bookstore.”

Anyways, we went to the city on Saturday, after attending a MASCA (Some sort of Malaysian student association thing) event at Curtin (where I met Yoong Bing) and we went to a few shops, some clothes shops, some book shops, some video shops. Got myself a book, Elephants on Acid and it was a good read. Loads of weird shit described in the book.

Anyways, life resumes tomorrow, gotta get to uni and edit some video. Bleh. I used to enjoy that shit. Now I detest it. Maybe because I’m not doing it right, or they don’t have a nice place to do it.

Whoa, I Never Meant To Brag

Once a whore you’re nothing more, I’m sorry, that’ll never change.
And about forgiveness, we’re both supposed to have exchanged.
I’m sorry honey, but I’m passin’ up, now look this way.

Misery Business – Paramore

Now before you get all judgmental on me for listening to this song, I only used it because I’ve been playing it on Guitar Hero trying to pass Hard mode. It’s not as easy as I thought. But I have loads of time now, since the weather asks (more like threatens me with a knife and a brick) to stay home, or else. It’s been raining here, now two days in a row, and it’s supposed to rain again tomorrow. It’s nice and cold, but on the downside is there’s no going out, because of the bitching rain.

Sunday I helped shoot a Sri Lankan / Portuguese wedding somewhere in Fremantle, and it was a pretty good experience, especially since this time round I didn’t really know the bride and groom well. To be honest, I felt like I was shit, and I could have done miles better. But I was pretty much unprepared, I only had my basic gear, and I had extreme lack of sleep. I’ve looked through the photos, and they look decent, of course, but not really up to my standards, so yeah. That sucks.

Anyway, so I had so much time in my flat, and I don’t know what to do. So I fired up Guitar Hero, and planned to get another 100% on hard on one song, at least. After playing for about an hour, I decided to try out Paramore’s Misery Business. It’s pretty easy, but I accidentally strummed while activating the star power, so my streak was fucked. But I still got 100%, which is good. I’m going to try again, without the damn accidental strum.

So yeah, the rain has hindered any progress with life, aside from the frivolous and time-wasting activities. Bah. Hopefully I’ll be able to get things done by Thursday.

And They’re All Made of Ticky Tacky, And They All Look Just the Same

And the people in the houses
All went to the university,
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same.

Little Boxes – Malvina Reynolds

So today we went and had our catamaran sailing trip. The turnout was so so, but we had fun, which was the important bit. Even had a jellyfish plopped on my hand whilst we were in the water. This post has a few photos, so if you’re running on sucky internet, well.. sucks for you.

If the captions were plain, well then I suppose they were. I can’t be bothered really to think of anything aside from the obvious. Anyway, this trip was a much needed get away from the village, simply because I’ve been cooped in the village with little to do, aside from my mission of looking for a stamp pad, which is proving to be more difficult than anticipated (or constipated, whichever you prefer). Ayah if you’re reading this, I’m posting the stuff back on Monday, will probably give you a call.

On a random note, it took 1001 days of blogspot before I decided to change to WP

And with that, we’re all made of ticky tacky and we all look just the same.
